Hello families!

Welcome to first grade and to a new school year! My name is Mrs. Litvan. I have been in District 96 for 20 years, and a teacher half of my life! I have taught every grade from first to fifth and have loved every grade for the uniqueness they each hold. I have also been a special education resource teacher and  technology resource teacher. I earned my bachelors degree at University of Northern Colorado for elementary and special education and a master’s degree at Concordia University in instructional technology. I started my teaching career in Colorado and continued teaching overseas teaching for the Department of Defense School system in Oslo, Norway and Lakenheath, England before moving to Illinois.

I can’t imagine a better and more rewarding job than being an educator. I am so excited for this school year! We will have fun learning in new ways and taking on challenges that will strengthen independence and confidence. This year we will explore the sky and talk about shadows, the moon and stars. We will learn to read by investigating sounds, letters and patterns in the English language. We will discover characters in meaningful texts and become authors and share our own narratives. And finally, some of the most important lessons will be about ourselves and our world with an emphasis on social emotional learning and community.

It will be a great year! I look forward to working with you as a partner in your child’s growth and education. You can reach me through email at llitvan@kcsd96.org
