Hello and welcome to 1st grade! My name is Mrs. Slivnick. ​I am so excited for this school year. This is my 9th year teaching at Ivy Hall. I spent six years teaching 2nd grade, and this will be my third year teaching 1st grade!
I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a focus in literacy and social science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I also have my masters in literacy as well as my English as a Second Language Endorsement. ​
This year your child is going to grow and learn so much! Students will develop reading, writing and language skills. They will expand their math skills as we participate in whole group and small group activities. Explorations are a key component of our math and science units as well. Along with academics, we will spend a lot of time focusing on social emotional skills. I look forward to sharing these experiences as we learn and grow together!
